We will discuss here about Rafal deal. But before discussing it,we will take a look toward US- Bulgaria F-16 deal and US - Taiwan F-16 Deal.
US - Bulgaria F-16 Deal
It's around $1.67B for only eight F-16 fighter jets.
Now 8 F-16 worth = $1.67B or $1,670M
1 F-16 Unit cost = $208M
We will discuss here about Rafal deal. But before discussing it,we will take a look toward US- Bulgaria F-16 deal and US - Taiwan F-16 Deal.

- To establish Maintenance department in customer Country
- Transfer of technology cost ( not all Tech transfer)
- Modification cost according to customer Country's needs and climate. ( Three Variant of Sukhoi 30 : Su30 MKI, Su30 MKK, Su30 MKM)
- Depends upon weaponry package
- Profit and many more
- Cost to develop Kaveri Engine (India's Case)
- Numbers of quantity manufactured (It reduces Development cost)
The Total number of F-16 manufactured by Lockheed Martin is approx 4500 which is one of the highest selling aircraft in the world.
Rafale Scam ?
In Rafale case, less than 200 Rafale were manufactured by Dassault. That's why in this Rafale deal it's development cost is far higher than F-16. when India reduced Rafale's quantity 126 to 36, unit cost of each Rafale got higher. India is buying 36 Rafale in 7.8 Billion US Dollars.
Question: Why could India Reduced numbers of Rafale ?
Answer : modern Rafale jet's are F3 variants and in next few years, Rafale will be upgrade in F4. Then India will have to pay again to upgrade it. So may be in future Government can order for more Rafale with F4 variant.
Question: Can India induct more Rafale in future?
Answer: May be India will induct more Rafale in future direct in F4 Variant. That time development cost will be lesser.
Conclusion: We should trust our government, we shouldn't call our prime minister Chor. It doesn't seem like a Scam. Rafale deal was scam or not time will prove it.
